Description
An Unmounted French Dragoon, green-clad soldier half-infantry, half-cavalry trained & somewhat effective.
The Dragoons in Napoleon’s la Grand Armée had a mixed reputation in battle. Dragoons were considered light cavalry trained to fight in combat with swords and pistols on horseback. Due to their versatility they were considered the workhorse of Napoleon’s cavalry forces and were used on scouting, anti-guerrilla deployments.
In 1805, Napoleon had a difficult time finding enough horses for his many dragoon regiments. At times because of a lack of horses they were used as infantry, but generally performed poorly in these roles. It was also not uncommon to find unmounted French dragoons deployed to the rear guard.
This Unmounted French Cuirassier minifigure comes with a selection of accessories including:
- Plastic replica musket
- Plastic replica straight sword
- Cuirassier helmet & lobster tail
- Alternative plume options
