Description

The Russian Imperial Army formed The ‘Pavlov Life Guards’ from two battalions of the Moscow Grenadiers in 1796. They engaged in battle several times with Napoleon’s Imperial French Army notably in the Battle of Eylau which was a bloody and strategically inconclusive battle. Grenadiers in most armies who used the term were considered tough, elite units used in difficult and desperate situations.
