Description

This minifigure-scale replica of the M1 Garand reflects the legendary service rifle of the U.S. Armed Forces during WWII and Korea. Designed by John Garand and adopted in 1936, the M1 was the first semi-automatic rifle to be standard issue for a major power. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, it fired from an 8-round en-bloc clip with a distinctive “ping” sound upon ejection.

The M1 gave American infantry a tremendous advantage in rate of fire over adversaries armed with bolt-action rifles like the Kar98k. With an effective range of 500 yards (457 m) and a weight of 9.5 lbs (4.3 kg), it combined accuracy, reliability, and firepower. General George S. Patton famously called it “the greatest battle implement ever devised.”
