Description

The Italian Light Infantry were good solid soldiers, assuming they were form Piedmont.

After Napoleon conquered northern Italy and subsumed them into his empire he could call on yet more vassal kingdoms to bolster his forces. Italy was one such region that provided troops to his campaigns. There were seven Italian regiments during the Napoleonic era and the Italians particularly covered themselves with glory at Malo-Yaroslavetz when Napoleon invaded Russia.

Light infantry in the Italian Army were foot soldiers with expectations slightly different to regular line infantry. They were used as scouts, disrupting enemy lines and preventing other enemy skirmishers impacting friendly line infantry. They would often use firing tactics where one man would fire on the enemy while a buddy loaded at the same time.
