This minifigure represents a German Army medic Winter Woodland Pattern from the Second World War. Wearing a winter camouflage uniform patterned for woodland and snow-covered terrain this minifig is ready to save lives. Medics were a crucial part of the Wehrmacht, tasked with saving lives amid the chaos of battle, often at great personal risk.

By international law, medics were considered non-combatants under the Geneva Conventions. They were typically marked with the Red Cross armband and helmet insignia, which theoretically offered them protection from deliberate attack. In practice, however, combat zones were so dangerous that medics frequently became casualties themselves. Their courage often stood out, as they ventured unarmed into the line of fire to retrieve and treat the wounded.

During the harsh Eastern Front campaigns, German medics faced some of the most extreme conditions of the war. Winters in Russia were brutal, with temperatures dropping below –30°C. Soldiers, including medics, adapted with special winter clothing such as reversible camouflage smocks — white on one side for snow and patterned on the other for forests or urban areas. Medics carried only sidearms for defence, though many did not carry weapons at all. Their gear usually consisted of a satchel of bandages, morphine, surgical tools, and sulpha drugs, as well as stretchers for evacuation. They were trained to provide first aid, stabilize the wounded, and move them to field dressing stations or aid posts.
