Description

The DC-17M Blaster was a modular weapon system developed exclusively for Clone Commandos during the Clone Wars. Introduced in Star Wars: Republic Commando, this blaster was designed to provide maximum versatility for elite special operations units operating without support.

Unlike standard clone blasters, the DC-17M could be reconfigured in the field into multiple firing modes, including a standard blaster rifle, a long-range sniper configuration, and an anti-armour launcher. This adaptability made it ideal for commandos tasked with infiltration, sabotage, and high-risk missions deep behind enemy lines.

Delta Squad and Omega Squad were the most notable users of the DC-17M . These units operated independently of Jedi leadership, answering directly to Republic Special Operations Command. Their missions often required silent eliminations, demolition of Separatist infrastructure, and engagement with heavily fortified targets.

The weapon’s design emphasized durability and reliability under extreme conditions. Commandos frequently deployed in hostile environments with little chance for resupply, making weapon failure unacceptable. The DC-17M became synonymous with clone commando operations and their effectiveness throughout the war.

Following Order 66, some DC-17M Blasters continued to see use during the early Imperial period, particularly among remaining clone commandos absorbed into Imperial service.
