The Uhlans of Brunswick carried their lances into numerous campaigns alongside Britain and Austria, fighting at Quatre Bras and later Waterloo. At Quatre Bras in June 1815, they charged to slow Marshal Ney’s advance, buying precious time for Wellington’s army to assemble. Despite heavy casualties, their sacrifice ensured the Allied forces could later stand at Waterloo with full strength.

From there, they sailed to Britain and joined the Allied cause, eventually returning to the continent to fight in Napoleon’s final campaign.
