Description
The minifigure-scale RPK-47 LMG captures the design of the Soviet Union’s squad automatic weapon, introduced in the early 1960s. Designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov as a companion to the AK-47, the RPK shared many components with the assault rifle but incorporated a longer, heavier barrel, reinforced receiver, and a fixed stock for improved stability. It was chambered in 7.62×39mm, offering squad-level suppressive fire with superior reliability.
The RPK typically fed from 40-round box magazines or 75-round drum magazines, providing sustained fire capability. With a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute and an effective range of 800 meters, it gave Soviet infantry squads a dependable light machine gun without sacrificing parts commonality with the AK platform. Weighing 10.6 lbs (4.8 kg) unloaded, it was lighter than many Western machine guns, enhancing mobility.
This miniature accessory replicates the RPK’s extended barrel and magazine well, making it an essential piece for Cold War or Eastern Bloc diorama setups. It represents both durability and iconic Soviet design.
