The Prussian Landwehr Soldier were the reserve units ill-equipped and trained but full of determination.
The Kingdom of Prussia formed the Landwehr regiments to bolster the reserves of infantry when the kingdom’s purse was stretched. These units would have to source their own weapons and equipment. Often they were using French muskets just to arm themselves. The Landwehr accepted men between age 25 and 40. They wore distinct blue uniforms which were of poor quality, but cheap and easy to manufacture. The soldiers fought with distinction and were sometimes used as regular troops.
