This minifigure depicts a German Luftwaffe Pilot, representing the aviators of Nazi Germany’s air force during World War II. The Luftwaffe was formally established in 1935 under the direction of Hermann Göring and became one of the most advanced and feared air forces of the war. German pilots flew aircraft ranging from the nimble Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighters to the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka dive bombers and, later, the revolutionary Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter.

The pilot’s uniform includes the tan flying overalls, leather flight jacket, and life vest, essential for missions over the English Channel, Mediterranean, and Eastern Front.
