Description

The Russian Artillery Gunners were the men loading the deadly shot into the cannon and howitzers on the battlefield.

Artillery regiments of the Russian army used a mixture of 6pdr, 12pdr and unicorn style cannonry. Gunners had a a lot of equipment to operate the guns. They had to keep the guns clean with sponges and scrapers, especially in the bore. They used ladles to load the gunpowder into the bottom of the bore and rammers to push down the wad and shot. Gunners worked in teams to lay destructive firepower onto the battlefield and demolish the enemy lines.
