Description

The British 95th Rifleman was a different kind of unit, they were the elite skirmisher, the snipers, the French officers scourge.

In the 19th century the British army went through exceptional changes to ensure they could fight in a variety of wars all across the world. These units were created as an experimental Corp of Riflemen in 1800, and were designed to change the battlefield. They were utilised for their versatility compared to the standard rank and file Red coat.

With the customary green jacket – an early form of camouflage in the 18th century, what distinguished the Rifleman was the Baker Rifle. The Baker Rifle had increased range compared to standard muskets. It has a special bore causing musket balls to spin, thereby reducing spread and increasing accuracy at long distances.

Riflemen were trained differently, specifically in the art of the Skirmish to harass the enemy. They used pin-point fire instead of the crude (but effective) wall of musket fire practiced by the line infantry.

This British 95th Rifleman minifigure comes with a selection of accessories including:

  • Plastic replica Baker rifle
  • Plastic replica sabre
  • Black Knapsack
  • Shako Cap with plumes
